DeVon and Marianne Ekenstam
Using LDS.org DeVon and Marianne have lived in Moapa Valley since 1999 and have raised three Pirate children. They have been using the internet since its inception and enjoy learning more about the gospel through web resources. Beverly Evans Using Family Tree Beverly has lived in Logandale for 34 years and is the mother of eight children and the proud grandmother of 24 (soon to be 26) grandchildren. She loves Moapa Valley and enjoys working on her family history. She caught the genealogy bug from her mother when, as a teenager, she helped her by typing family group sheets and pedigree charts. She is excited about the possibilities of Family Search Family Tree. Bryce Hardy Appropriate use of Technology in the Family Bryce was raised here in Moapa Valley. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he moved down to Las Vegas to begin teaching elementary school. While in Las Vegas he met his wife Becky. They are the parents of six children. They moved back to Moapa Valley about 12 years ago to raise their children. Bryce is in his 19th year of teaching and loves working as the librarian at Grant M. Bowler Elementary School. Heather Hofmann Indexing Heather Hofmann is the "crazy" math teacher at Lyon Middle School who loves to do family history research in her spare time. She was introduced to extraction while in her youth, and the Spirit of Elijah has been ever-present since. She has traveled throughout the United States and Quebec in researching her own family lines, and has been instrumental in providing sacred temple ordinances for hundreds of her ancestors. Brad Lyon Intro to Technology Brad was raised in Moapa Valley and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. Upon graduation, Brad took at job working at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. Part of his responsibilities included leading software development teams. This work exposed him to the early stages of the Internet, before web browsers and America Online. In 1995 he came back to Moapa Valley to work at his family owned telephone company bringing with him his knowledge of the Internet. Brad currently manages Moapa Valley Telephone’s Internet and Switching operations. He and his wife Joyce are the parents to 6 wonderful children and grandparents to 2 grandsons. Aaron & Rachelle McCombs Wholesome Social Media Use Aaron & Rachelle met at BYU while he was the Elder’s Quorum President and she was the Relief Society President. After a lengthy courtship of 3 weeks and a drawn-out engagement of 2 ½ months they married. After graduation, she dragged him back to Overton, NV (where people walk their pigs) and he started work at Moapa Valley Telephone Co (thanks to some family connections). They are the parents of two boys, Cade & Jackson, and have found themselves (thanks to their sons) saying many things that they never thought they’d say. Lance Mortensen Lance has a Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems and has been self-employed for the majority of his career. He has co-authored several certification books and is certified in both Novell and Microsoft as a trainer and software engineer, with an emphasis in data warehouses. Lance and his family moved to Logandale 14 years ago, and he loves the warm weather. He currently has 2 children attending USU, 2 in High School, and 1 at Middle School. Lance and Luann have been married over 23 years. Par Rasmusson Apps That Help Us Draw Closer to Christ Par and Jenny moved to the Land of Luhgahndullay 10 years ago after raising six kids. They are now enjoying their 18 grandkids and their dog named PC. Jenny and Par are self-acknowledged mouse-potatoes (they don't have a television) and enjoy technology on their PC's (not the dog), laptops, iPhones and iPads. They both realize that more and more, whether it is studying the scriptures or preparing a talk or lesson, "There's an App for that!" Ben Robison Protecting Loved Ones on the Internet Ben grew up in Las Vegas and for the past almost 8 years has been lucky enough to call Moapa Valley his home. He has worked in the IT field for nearly 17 years. He currently works for a utility company in Las Vegas, where for the past 5 years he has been responsible for keeping 1,800+ desktop PCs secure and protected against all types of Internet threats. He has also spent 8+ years on a team that identifies beneficial emerging technologies, then plans for and deploys those technologies. He and his beautiful wife have 2 Primary-aged children that make life very fun. |
